That means 84¢ of every dollar played goes to winners or back to South Dakota!

More than 45% of Every Dollar Given Back Goes to Education

As part of the General Fund, more than 45% of the $109 million contributed by the South Dakota Lottery helps fund K–12 & Higher Education, plus other good things like Health & Human Services, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources and more.

On average, over $1 million won every day

Last year, $503,012,663 was won playing the South Dakota Lottery. Averaged out over 365 days, that’s $1.37 million a day!

93¢ of every dollar made goes back to the state

After prizes, commissions, fees and all the costs of running the games – the South Dakota Lottery made $125,350,383 last year. 93% of that was transferred to the state.
